I discovered my passion for nutritional therapy during my and my husband's own health journeys. My husband was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2010. For me, everything had started years before when I first went to the doctor because I just felt more tired than I should have. At the time, they told me I was just getting old at the ripe old age of 30 and sent me on my way. Then I started having chronic lower back pain and chronic wrist pain. I added a set of back stretches to my routine every morning and night, started getting massages regularly, and iced my wrists every night before bed so that I'd be able to type the next day at work. I even started getting the occasional migraine, which affected my vision and ability to read. Each new issue seemed worrisome, but I was viewing each independently. Later when I started getting sick after most meals I was diagnosed with IBS, but again this was a new independent issue and no one was taking a step back and attempting to figure out what the root cause of all of my health issues were. Eventually it got to the point where my husband and I both had periods of debilitating fatigue and brain fog, out of control food sensitivities, and hormonal issues like hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, and adrenal fatigue. We'd just gotten married and it felt like everything was slowly falling apart. Previously we'd spent most of our free time rock climbing and training for endurance trail races and both of those activities were becoming more and more impossible every day.
It took us years to systematically identify and address the root causes of our symptoms. We both had very damaged guts, with overgrowths of unwanted bacteria, parasites, and a lack of the good guys. There was mold in our home and I was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory response syndrome, which is a response to the biotoxins in mold. We both had to reevaluate how we were eating and the stress in our lives. And after all of that we now both feel better than we ever have in our lives! I love working out again and at 40 I have way more energy than I did at 30 or even 25. In the end, I'm so thankful for this journey that I've been on because I not only feel great and can enjoy my life to its fullest but it led me to a career that I'm incredibly passionate about. I get to make a real difference in people's lives by helping them figure out what needs to heal so they can reach their goals and enjoy their lives to the fullest!
“From the very beginning of my interactions with Deb, she was very thorough in reviewing all of the symptoms I was having and considering all possibilities for causes. She worked with me nearly daily to evaluate symptoms, including improvements and changes, and was always quick to respond to any questions I had, without making me wait for an appointment. Within a few weeks of following Deb's recommendations, I was feeling better, and continue to feel better week after week!
What makes Deb unique is her passion for nutrition and her desire to get to the root cause of problems in order to help her clients get better. I recommend Deb without reservation!"
